Dr. Fred H. Winters is the Senior Pastor First Baptist Church, Maryville since 1987. He also serves as an
Adjunct Professor at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, with a D. Min. Church Growth and Evangelism. He has master degrees both Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Wheaton Graduate School.
Under his leadership First Baptist Church has grown from 32 in attendance to over 1,500.
Church budget has grown from $48,000 to a multimillion dollar budget for the church and its ministries.
The church and ministries have grow from 2 staff members to over 100 full and part-time employees
Fred has provided leadership through 7 Building Programs and lead the congregation to relocate on to 70 acre site in July, 2000. He is a published author of numerous articles and the book Reflections on Wisdom and Folly, 2009 The WinePress Group. He is the past President Illinois Baptist State Convention
In 2006 he was the recipient of the National Clergy Renewal Program Grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.
